Although, in some people’s opinions, Christina Aguilera flopped performing the Star Spangled Banner at the opening to the Super Bowl this past Sunday, she will have a chance at redemption this Sunday, Feb. 13, at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards, which will air on CBS from 8-11:30 p.m. (EST).
Christina, along with four time Grammy winner Yolanda Adams, Grammy winner and Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson, country singer Martina McBride, and someone currently up for a Grammy nomination, Florence Welch, will also be joining her in this performance, which is a tribute to the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin.
The performance is also a Valentine’s Day, and get-well card all rolled into one for Miss Franklin, who currently has 18 Grammy’s under her belt.
Back on December 2, 2010 Franklin underwent surgery for an undisclosed condition but claims to now be in excellent health. It hasn’t been announced if Aretha is going to make an appearance at the Grammy’s; hopefully she feels well enough to witness this tribute to her legacy.
