Top Gear Host Jeremy Clarkson Reveals New Amazon Delivery Drone Prototype

(PCM) In a new released video, Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson has revealed Amazon’s all-new delivery drone prototype for their highly speculated Prime Air delivery service. The video claims that the drone would be able to fly for up to 15 miles and have packages delivered to a customers doorstep within 30 minutes of placing the order. It also features “sense and avoid technology” and can fly at the height of around 400 ft in the air.

While, Amazon did receive permission to begin testing the drone delivery service here in the U.S., there has been no official date revealed as to when the company will begin putting the delivery drones into full circulation. ¬†The company is currently designing dozens of devices and the particular drone showcased by Clarkson is just one member of the proposed “drone delivery family”. There are still many who oppose Amazon’s use of drones for their delivery service citing fears of security breaches and date hacking, however Amazon ensures it’s customers that they have no plans to fully launch the drone program until they are absolutely certain that it can be operated safely, which includes preventing any security breaches. ¬†According to the FAA there will be approximately 30,000 commercial drones in the air by the year 2020 and even more devices owned by private citizens.
