Taylor Swift reached out to the family of Sgt. Wade Wilson, who was killed in action on Friday, May 11, 2012 in Afghanistan, by sending them flowers and a card.
According to Wilson’s best friend Cpl Josh Marreel, Wilson was a huge Taylor swift, stating in a Youtube video to the singer on May 15: “This is a shout out to the one and only Taylor Swift. I know you have no idea who I am, but this video isn’t about me. This is about my good buddy Sergeant Wade D. Wilson, who was killed in action Friday, May 11 in Afghanistan.
“Anybody that knew Wilson knew that he worshiped you. He even slept with a poster of you in between our beds in Afghanistan. This guy was my best friend. I know a lot of people get on here and ask celebrities to go to dances with them…All I’m asking is for you to think about him.”
KBTX, a Texas television station, has reported that Taylor plans on wearing Sgt. Wade’s dog tags in her next music video in order to honor his life. In the card accompanying the flowers, Swift wrote: “Wade, thank you for loving my music. I won’t forget it. And I will never forget you. All my love, Taylor Swift.”
A family friend of the Wade’s told KBTX that the family is at a loss for words to describe their gratitude towards the country singer.
