(PCM) In response to all the various sinister/creepy clown sightings across the nation, retailer giant Target has revealed that they will stop selling clown masks just weeks before Halloween. The company said in a statement that they will be removing all clown masks from their 1,800 stores and their online shopping site as well.
The company claims they made the decision in response to the “sensitivity to the issue at hand” regarding all the creepy clown sightings that have been reported and are leaving people on edge. The clown sightings began back in August when a clown was spotted near a South Carolina apartment complex attempting to lure young children into the wood. Since then there have been dozens of reported clown sightings in various states that have led to major school lock downs and several arrests.
People are scared and the clown sightings have even prompted McDonald’s to put their famous clown mascot Ronald McDonald on hiatus for a bit until the craze dies down a bit. Targets decision comes just a mere two weeks before Halloween when according to the National Retail Federation, consumers will spend an estimated $8.4 billion on costumes. Looks like we won’t be sending in the clowns this Halloween season!
