Rooney Mara Gets Tattooed!

After a nationwide manhunt Sony and David Fincher finally have their man.  Well, actually it’s their girl. Rooney Mara has been chosen as the actress to portray Lisbeth Salander in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.  The American adaptation, directed by David Fincher, also stars Daniel Craig as Mikael Blomkvist. Mara is best known for her work in the recent remake, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and also appears in The Social Network.  Which, not unsurprisingly, is the reason that Mara got the role.  While working on Fincher’s The Social Network, he and Sony were reported very impressed with the young actress, ultimately giving her the edge. Other actresses vying for the role included Emma Watson (who apparently cut off her hair for the audition), Kristen Stewart, Natalie Portman, Miley Cyrus (apparently there was some speculation), Ellen Page, Mia Wasikowska, and Emily Browning. Stieg Larsson’s novels (The Millenium Trilogy) have spiked in popularity since his death in 2004, and Larsson recently became the first author to sell 1 million of e-books in the Amazon Kindle store.
