Ever think comedy doesn’t get enough credit at the awards shows?
Well, then, you aren’t the only one. MTV Networks and Comedy Central are teaming up to launch the Comedy Awards. It will honor “the most talented writers, directors, actors and stand-ups across all of comedy – who provided the laugh track to our lives this past year.”
The Comedy Awards will take place on March 26, 2011 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. The show will air Sunday, April 10, 2011, and be simulcast on Comedy Central, Spike TV, TV Land, VH1 and Nick at Nite.
Nominees will be chosen by The Comedy Awards Board of Directors, which includes some of the biggest names in comedy of today and yesterday like Will Ferrell, Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg, Seth MacFarlane, Phil Rosenthal and many more!
The winners will be chosen by The Comedy Awards Voting Body, comprised of comedy professionals including producers, writers, performers, directors and stand-ups. Comedy fans will also be able to vote on select categories at www.thecomedyawards.com
