(PCM) Country music superstar Blake Shelton was named People Magazines’ “Sexiest Man Alive” for the year of 2017 and almost immediately social media exploded with majority of people completely disagreeing with the magazine’s choice. Many were confused and definitely made sure to express their outrage with some rather humorous memes.
We often have to wonder just what gives People Magazine the right to vote on the “Sexiest Man Alive” in the first place. This is certainly not the first time that the public has disagreed with the popular magazine’s choice for the yearly title.
In fact, once back in 1998 People Magazine actually included the cartoon character/brand mascot Mr. Clean on their list of the “sexiest men alive”. You know the bald-headed, white t-shirt wearing icon of the 1958 cleaning solution aptly titled Mr. Clean! Seriously!
Some men have even been graced with the title of “Sexiest Man Alive” more than once! We are looking at you Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Johnny Depp to name a few!
This is not to say that there is anything at all wrong with Blake Shelton’s looks, as we all know that there is no true definition of beauty as it is all in eye of the beholder, which is why we think it is utterly ridiculous that People Magazine even bothers to create these types of competitions each year. Don’t forget the magazine also runs the “Sexiest Woman Alive”, as well as, “The 100 Most Beautiful People” features each year as well.
Talk about making the rest of us feel like crap! Do you agree with People Magazine’s choices? Comment and let us know what you think!
