A Mythbusters experiment was a complete misfire Tuesday, when a 30-lb cannonball ripped through the walls of a California home before coming to rest inside a minivan.
The experiment was conducted by Toni Bellici, Kari Byron and Grant Imahara. They were supposed to test whether other types of projectiles shot from a cannon would have the same speed and impact as would a cannonball. The steel cannonball missed the intended target and inexplicably veered into the neighborhood instead. Luckily, there were no injuries.
Co-hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman will be meeting with families affected by the incident.
Mythbusters is known for testing scientific theories in real-world settings. They have had a nearly-perfect safety record for over 8 years.
The Discovery Channel show as been put on hold pending a full investigation.
