The MTV Movie Awards aired last night with little-to-no real surprises in the awards department. As expected, The Twilight Saga: New Moon was the big winner last night, winning a total of five different awards between the movie and its actors. Considering MTV’s target demographic for the award ceremony, no real surprise there.
The water-cooler moment from the night is certainly the passionate kiss shared by Sandra Bullock and Scarlet Johanasson. But Tom Cruise’s Les Grossman, bouncing and dancing around on stage, easily stole the show. The Hangover’s Ken Jeong brought everyone to tears with his heartfelt acclaim for his wife, and her successful defeat of breast cancer.
The MTV Movie Awards may be as opposite as the Oscars in just about every way possible. In fact, the only thing they really have in common are the celebrities in attendance. The Oscars are about prestige, glamor, elegance, and honor. The MTV Movie Awards are about excitement, sillyness, shockability, and all around fun. But one thing is for sure: both exist to celebrate movies.
