Alice Tan Ridley, vocalist, and mother of actress Gabourey Sidibe, defends her daughter against Stern’s words about her daughters’ weight, words which Gabourey’s mother finds unnecessary.
“She’s the most enormous, fat black chick I’ve ever seen”, said Howard Stern, according to Black Voice Entertainment Newswire.
Alice Tan Ridley replies, defending her daughter, telling the press that her Oscar-nominated daughter has nothing to feel ashamed about.
“Gabby is a big girl”, says Ridley, according to Entertainment Newswire. “She’s a big woman, so what’s wrong with that? She’s not like everyone else in the world.”
“I don’t see him giving jobs out to anybody so why should we care what he says? He might not hire her, but someone else will,” she added.
Alice Tan Ridley herself is a performer. She sings live at New York City’s subway stations.
