Sources at Disney have confirmed that Monsters Inc. 2 will be released November 2, 2012 — just two weeks prior to its originally slated date of November 16, 2012. The change came after Summit’s announcement that the final film in the Twilight saga, Breaking Dawn Part 2, will be premiering on November 16.
Even Disney executives realize that Mike and Sully can’t compete with the rabid devotion fans have towards the Twilight series. The uber-successful animators at Pixar hope to rake in the profit before movie theaters are filled to the brim with raging, adolescent Twihards.
But there is something interesting to note: the original Monsters Inc. film was released in 2001 — on November 2! Will Monsters Inc. 2 feature an 11th birthday of some kind? Only time will tell…
