When Mark Wahlberg initially heard he was a getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, he thought for sure that it was a practical joke.
The ceremony, held July 29, was hosted by Will Ferrell, Wahlberg’s co-star in “The Other Guys.” He joked that he became a fan of Mark’s when he “bought his workout video.”
Wahlberg’s wife, Rhea Durman, and their four young kids, Ella, Michael, Brendan, and Grace, were all in attendance. While speaking, he said “I’m so happy my kids are sitting through this.”
He credits his success in Hollywood to rediscovering the Catholic faith. Born and raised Catholic, Mark strayed from the faith, but when he got into trouble and began to refocus on the Catholic church, good things started happening.
“And even when bad things happened, it was a lot easier to deal with. It’s become the most important part of my life.”
Wahlberg is known for his roles in “Boogie Nights,” “Invincible,” and as rapper Marky Mark from the Funky Bunch.
