Man Assaults Wife and Judge Orders a Date Night?

If your husband or boyfriend shoved you down on a couch, put his hands around your neck, and pulled his fist back like he was about to punch you in the face, would you think to yourself, ‘Hmm, it may be time for a date night’? I doubt it. Joseph Bray appeared in court yesterday on the above domestic violence charge after getting in an argument with his wife. The judge ordered him to take his wife on a date. During the hearing, Judge Jay Hurley asked Bray’s wife where she’d like to go for dinner and what she’d like to do afterward. She replied with Red Lobster and bowling. Hurley said: “He’s going to stop by somewhere and he’s going to get some flowers, and then he’s going to go home, pick up his wife, get dressed, take her to Red Lobster. And then after they have Red Lobster, they’re going to go bowling.” Also, he ordered the two to go to marriage counseling. His wife apparently told the judge that she was neither hurt nor in fear, so Judge Hurley felt a date night was an appropriate punishment.
