(PCM) Fans of AMC’s hit TV series that just so happen to have a spare $680,000 can hop on over to Ebay to place their bids on the historic town of Grantville, Georgia which is currently up for sale. The town in located approximately 35 miles outside of Atlanta.
The town was heavily featured during season three of “The Walking Dead” and has also been the set of several other films such as “Lawless” and “Dumb and Dumber To”. Television and film studios are attracted to the town’s rustic and old-fashioned feel and there are even four additional films that are currently in the works. It has great historic appeal, as most of the buildings were built back in the 1880’s and there is even a railroad that runs right through the heart of town.
Jim Sells, the former mayor of Grantville says that he would love a movie studio or commercial developer to purchase the town. The current price is only asking approximately $30 per square inch and much of it has already been renovated.
It is also Sell’s hope that many of the buildings can be turned in to loft apartments, retail spaces, restaurants and more. Revenue is also earned from the “Walking Dead” tours that take place in the town, as well as, residuals on recent and upcoming film projects.
Thus far there have been no bids on town, but there are 885 people currently watching the auction.
