Lifetime To Remake Beaches With Idina Mezel

beaches2   (PCM) Lifetime has jumped on the reboot boat. The channel has announced that they will be remaking the movie, Beaches. The movie was released in 1988, and was a smash hit for audiences. This will be Lifetimes first attempt at making a musical adaption. The movie starred Bette Midler, Barbara Hershey, and Mayim Bialik among others. The movie was directed by award winning director Garry Marshall. It was also announced that actress Idina Mezel will be playing the part of Cecilia Carol “C.C.” Bloom, who was portrayed by Bette Midler in the 1988 film adaption of author, Rainer Dart’s novel of the same name. Idina should have no problem filling in role that Midler once played. Idina has spent her time climbing up the Hollywood ladder with all sorts of roles. The singer/actress first burst onto the scene in 1996, portraying Maureen Johnson in the Broadway musical Rent, for which she won a Tony award. Idina went onto portray other characters throughout her career, including the voice of Queen Elsa in the Disney smash hit Frozen. Lifetime will be remaking the cult classic film. The film follows a privileged debutante, and a cynical struggling entertainer (Idina) share a turbulent, but strong childhood friendship over the years. Audiences will get new renditions of two songs that were smash hits in the movie first sung by Midler. We will get too hear Idina’s take on “The Glory of Love” and the iconic, Wind Beneath My Wings. The film will hopefully bring a whole new era of fans to the movie. Lifetime is hoping to jump on the musical television market that has worked for Fox and ABC. Production for the film has been scheduled for mid-August.
