Last month, Larry King’s wife, Shawn Southwick, was rushed to the hospital when she overdosed on Ambien and anxiety medication. Due to evidence, though, it has been determined that the OD was a suicide attempt.
When her 76-year-old father found her unresponsive and lying in bed, he called 911. They asked him if it was a suicide attempt, he insisted that she wasn’t suicidal. But, the police found, among the bottles of prescription drugs, a handwritten note explaining that she had taken them all on purpose.
They also found a second note in which she shared her wish to be buried in Provo, Utah.
The report does not give an explanation for why she would commit suicide.
The suicide attempt comes one month after the Kings had filed for divorce after discoveries that they had both been unfaithful. But, in May, they reconciled and stopped the divorce proceedings.
“Our marriage is still together, and I am staying very close to our children, who we love immensely,” Larry King said. “We shall go through this difficult time intact as a family.”
