Kmart Is Ringing In The Controversy With New Joe Boxer Holiday Ad

(PCM) Personally, I think this ad is just as genius as Kmart’s other brilliant “Ship My Pants” ad from earlier this year, but many feel that the retailers new holiday Joe Boxer commercial is both “disgusting” and “distasteful”. The Kmart Joe Boxer holiday ad features six men clad in tuxedos ringing bells in time to the classic holiday song “Jingle Bells” standing behind a long white table. The table is then removed to reveal the men are wearing only Joe Boxer holiday boxer shorts and then they start the “Jingle Bells” song over again shaking their booties in time to the song and it is alluded that they are playing the songs with their “personal” bells! (If you know what we mean) Kmart had the following comments when contacted by The Huffington Post in regards to the ad “The Kmart ‘Show Your Joe’ commercial playfully showcases Joe Boxer’s men’s clothing available at Kmart. We regret if some people found the commercial offensive, as that was not our intent.” Kmart has no plans to remove the ad, nor do I think they should!  This is brilliant marketing at its’ finest and it certainly is doing its’ job of getting everyone talking. Isn’t that the point of advertising in the first place? #ShowYourJoe
