On June 6 there was a tweet floating around claiming that James ‘Uncle Phil’ Avery from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air had died. The tweet was supposedly in recognition of the Scottish soccer player, Phil ‘Uncle Phil’ O’Donnell, who passed away in 2007.
James Avery is alive and living in California. He is set to voice a character in Transformers 3, set to release in 2011. Currently, Avery appears on the show ‘Sherri’ on Lifetime and does commercials for Kaplan University.
Needless to say, Avery is angered by the rumor. Many people on twitter believe that the person who began the rumor and whoever posted the original tweet should have gone a different route to commemorate the death.
