Fitness legend Jack LaLanne died on Sunday at the age of 96 at his Morro Bay home from respiratory failure caused by pneumonia.
LaLanne was best known for his fitness show, “The Jack LaLanne Show” which started in 1951 on San Fransisco’s ABC Television, and went nationwide in 1959.
Elaine LaLanne, who frequently appeared on her husband’s show, said in a statement:
“I have not only lost my husband and a great American icon, but the best friend and most loving partner anyone could ever hope for.”
“I can’t die,” LaLanne once said. “It would ruin my image.”
