A truck hauling bags of sauerkraut rear-ended a car and lost its load after being hit by another truck near Frankfurt, Germany early Tuesday morning.
Piles of bags of the pickled cabbage tumbled out of the truck and froze to the Autobahn surface upon impact. The motorway had to be shut down for 4 hours and caused a 10-km backup during the morning rush hour. The road had to be partially salted before the mess could be scraped up.
The driver of the car was slightly injured, and damage was estimated at $132,000.
