(PCM) A group of hackers who are going by the name “The Dark Overlord” have followed through with their threat to leak the entire new season of the hit Netflix Original Series “Orange Is The New Black”.
Season five was slated to begin streaming on Netflix on June 9th, however by now tons of people have already binged the entire new season thanks to the links shared by the hackers, who continue to re-upload even after admins keep blocking the links.
“The Dark Overlord” hacking group appears to have somehow stolen the episodes from Netflix and initially asked for an undisclosed sum of ransom money from the network to keep the episodes from being leaked. Netflix failed to deliver the ransom money and the hacking group then began releasing the episodes online.
The hacking group also claims to have access to unaired episodes of several series from additional networks such as ABC, FOX and Nat Geo to name a few. The group says they plan to as they are claiming “have fun” with the other networks as well and that they are not playing any games. It has not yet been determined if the group has demanded ransom money from any additional networks.
If we were Netflix, we would probably just drop the new season of “Orange Is The New Black” early to combat the hackers, but thus far there has been no official word from the network.
In a press release “The Dark Overlord” said:
“We’re back again. Did you miss us? Of course, you did. We’re willing to bet Netflix did as well. Speaking of which, Netflix clearly received our message considering they’ve made public statements and was one of the first people to download a fresh copy of their own property (Hello, 69.53.235.76!) – yet they continue to remain unresponsive. With this information in mind (and the fact that leaving people on cliffhangers isn’t fun) we’ve decided to release Episodes 2-10 of “Orange Is The New Black” Season 5 after many lengthy discussions at the office where alcohol was present. Do note that there are 13 episodes. However, we were so early when we acquired the copies that post hadn’t gotten around to Episodes 11-13. Perhaps Netflix will consider releasing the season earlier now that the cat’s out of the bag?
We’re not quite done yet, though. We’re calling you out: ABC, National Geographic, Fox, IFC, and of course Netflix, still. There’s more Netflix on the feasting menu soon (in addition to the other studios, of course), but we’ll get to that later. Enjoy the fruits of _our_ labour.”
They then included links to several torrent sites where the episodes could be downloaded. Scary stuff! Looks like Netflix has the next move!
