German artist Heinz Schulz-Neudamm’s poster for Metropolis, the 1927 silent film by Fritz Lang, is up for auction with a price of $850,000, a price some predict will rise to $1,000,000.
The poster was bought for $650,000 in 2005 by a collector, setting the record for most valuable movie poster, and is currently listed with a value of $250,ooo in the bankruptcy statements filed by owner Kenneth Schacter.
Fritz Lang’s Metropolis is considered one of the silent era’s greatest films and its influence can still be felt throughout pop culture.
