Everyone Is Angered Over A Man Attempting To Crowdfund An Engagement Ring

(PCM) The internet is up in arms over a man named William Oliver creating a GoFundMe account in an attempt to have everyone help him pay for an engagement ring for his girlfriend, Alexandra. Oliver feels that using crowdfunding as a way to finance the engagement ring is a new and unique approach, but it is definitely leaving a bad taste in just about everyone’s mouth. It probably has a lot to do with the fact that Oliver is not even asking for a reasonable amount of money. He is asking for $15,000 for the ring which is a bit extravagant if you ask us! This is most likely why Oliver has only raised a mere $594 since the GoFundMe campaign has gone live. If we were in Alexandra’s shoes we would be pretty angered that Oliver was going this very public route to purchase the engagement ring. Plus, how can you put a price tag on true love? If you can’t afford such an expensive ring by yourself then choose a cheaper option. In 2017 I have started to realize that teamwork makes our dreams work. After my 30th Birthday, I’ve received alot excitement about it being time to marry her! I couldn’t agree more. She had a really innovative way to show her appreciation by purchasing 30 gifts for my 30th birthday. So I need a more innovative way to show my appreciation while incorporating friends and family. I’ve decided to get some help by making this a trending approach. This will raise awareness about the difference between the love we share and the love people have for us. Money for the engagement is your chance to get involved. I’ve heard everything from “I Love Yall” to “You need to put a Ring On It” etc etc.

It goes on to further explain:

I’ve decided to utilize GoFundMe to let everybody who loves us show us. Sometimes we can’t quite afford expensive things by ourselves. A lot of people lean on credit card companies and banks (that overcharge them) so that they appear to do nice things for people they love by themselves. My approach is a little different. We have friends, family, and colleagues that don’t mind passing up a drink or a sandwich to help out. Anything helps. While Oliver might make a few solid points, it is certainly not up to the couples family and friends to somehow prove how much they care about them by donating to a silly campaign. It is really asking an awful lot and just kind of awkward overall. The ‘Ring for Alexandra’ campaign has gone viral on Facebook since it was posted and has been shared numerous times, but that is definitely more to do with people poking fun at the couple rather than actually wanting to donate. We can’t even believe that people have donated as much as they have, however we somehow get the feeling that Alexandra is going to end up a bit disappointed in the end, as something tells us that dear ol’ William will never make this $15,000 dream ring a reality.
