(PCM) The founder of the Chick-fil-A empire, S. Truett Cathy, has passed away quietly surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 93.
Cathy is credited with founding “The Original Chicken Sandwich”, perfecting his famous recipe in 1960. The simple, yet delicious recipe features a buttered bun, boneless chicken breast and dill pickle chips which he named “Chick-fil-A”.
Fast forward about fifty years and the Chick-fil-A empire has grown enormously. There are currently over 1,800 locations in 40 states across the U.S. and the company brings in approximately $5 billion in sales each years.
Cathy was a very religious man and his restaurants have never been opened on Sundays. This practice will remain in tact after his passing and the company will still remain privately run.
Our condolences go out to Cathy’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.
