It’s the morning after the Superbowl, and much of the chatter is about the half-time show and not the game itself. The Black Eyed Peas came out in full force last night being the first pop act to perform during half-time since the infamous “wardrobe malfunction” with Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake. The performance consisted of a mashup of BEP’s biggest hits. They also incorporated a duet between Slash and Fergie who sang Guns N’ Roses’ “Sweet Child O’ Mine.” The group then joined Usher to sing his hit “OMG.”
There are mixed reviews about the group’s performance. Some applauded the display of lights, pyro, and fog. Others thought it was a disaster. There has been negative talk about their costume choices, audio difficulties, and Fergie’s rendition of “Sweet Child O’Mine.” All in all it appears that some loved the dynamic return of pop to the Superbowl that the BEP provided, while others think the BEP just tried too hard.
