(PCM) Damn, you 2016! We just couldn’t escape yet another celebrity death and this one really hurts. We are deeply saddened to learn that actress Carrie Fisher has passed away at the age of 60. Fisher recently went into cardiac arrest during a flight from London to California and was rushed to UCLA Medical Center upon landing. Her condition was reported as stable at the hospital, however conflicting reports claim Fisher never regained consciousness after the incident.
Fisher was in London promoting her new book “The Princess Diarist” which made headlines and stirred up a bit of controversy due to her admittance of having an affair with her “Star Wars” co-star Harrison Ford.
News came this morning that Fisher had passed away at UCLA Medical Center due to complications from the heart attack she suffered on board the plane. She had remained in the hospitals ICU unit since her arrival.
Fisher is best known for role as the iconic Princess Leia in the “Star Wars” film franchise and recently reprised the role in one of the latest “Star Wars” films “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. She also appeared in countless other films including “The Blues Brothers”, “Postcards From The Edge” and “When Harry Met Sally” to only name a few.
Fisher suffered a lengthy battle with substance abuse issues over the years and was hospitalized with bipolar disorder back in 2013. Her health, both mental and physical, appeared to be improving in the more recent years up until the time of her passing.
Carrie is survived by her daughter, Billie Lourde, her brother, Todd Fisher, and sisters Tricia and Joely Fisher, as well as, mother actress Debbie Reynolds. The news of her passing truly breaks our hearts and our sincere condolences go out to Carrie Fisher’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
