7th Billionth Baby Born Today

The United Nations recognized newborn Danica May Camacho as the world’s symbolic seventh billionth baby in the world. Danica was born in the Phillipines just before midnight Sunday evening.

She is the second child of parents Camille Dalura and Florante Camacho and is the center of a media frenzy. The U.N. delivered a cake and other gifts for the family including a scholarship and finances to help Danica’s parents establish a general store.

Despite being awarded the official title, Danica was not the only baby born this Halloween. Couples all over the world are claiming that their babies are the actual 7th billion newborn. A baby boy born at St. Thomas’ hospital in London has also been hailed the world’s 7th billionth child and was presented with a teddy bear from the House of Commons by Liberal Democrat peer Baroness Jenny Tonge, Conservative MP Geoffrey Clifton-Brown and hospital staff just three hours after his birth.

Babies from India, America, and Russia have also been recognized. Will the real seventh billionth baby please stand up?

Approximately 490,000 babies are born all over the world on any given day, according to the United Nation’s Population Division, making it difficult to determine the actual identity of the seventh billionth newborn. Babies born all over the world have been photographed and celebrated today as the seventh billionth baby. Congratulations to all of the families!
