6-Year-Old Girl Handcuffed and Arrested for Throwing Tantrum at School

A 6-year-old student elementary student was handcuffed and arrested Friday for allegedly throwing a tantrum in a classroom…Handcuffed and arrested. Isn’t that what kids do – throw tantrums? Was this little girl really that scary that they needed to call for back-up?! Apparently, all the teachers and administration from Creekside ELementary in Milledgeville, Georgia thought so. According to police reports, Salecia Johnson tore items off the walls and threw furniture, and knocked over a shelf that injured the principal. The girl was found screaming and crying in the principal’s office before police arrived, ad when she wouldn’t calm down and “resisted” the officer, she was handcuffed and taken in. “Our policy is that any detainee transported to our station in a patrol vehicle is to be handcuffed in the back. There is no age discrimination on that rule,” said Milledgeville Chief of Police Dray Swicord. She was taken to the police station and charged with assault and damage to property. She will not have to go to court, however, because she is only 6. She’s also expelled from school until the fall.
