(PCM) 300-plus Kate Bush lookalikes re-enacted her famous Wuthering Heights video in East Sussex, UK, near the University of Sussex on Saturday May 25th, setting a world record of sorts.
In Stanmar Park, several hundred men and women wore long black wigs, red dresses, with matching red lipstick took over the park in an unusual display of performance/tribute art.
“It was an unofficial record and as far as we know no one has attempted this before… We had approx 330 Bushes, which was totally incredible!,” Shambush said on their facebook page.
Kate Bush, an 80s alt rock video and music pioneer, was well represented by her fans of her and her iconic video, in spite of the chilly weather.
“I don’t think we can say thank you enough to everyone who came yesterday and found their inner Bush. Thank you and thank you and thank you to everyone who stewarded and set up and volunteered and made this happen. It was AWESOME!”
Planning came from their website: http://shambush.wordpress.com/the-ultimate-kate-bush-experience/ This summer Shambush! embark on their next exciting project and attempt to set a world record with The Ultimate Kate Bush Experience. With the help of willing recruits from the general public and our ever-talented band of Shambushers we will congregate at Stanmer Park and re-enact Kate Bush’s iconic Wuthering Heights video.
This free event conceived for the love of Bush, will take place on Sat 25 May between 1 – 4pm and is open for all to participate and spectate.
The event was enjoyed by the performers and park visitors, and, we hope, by Kate herself.
