The “2010 MTV Video Music Awards” will air live from Nokia Theater L.A. Live in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at 9PM (Live ET/Tape delayed PT.), and we’ll be there to bring you exclusive coverage!
MTV brings the cutting-edge comedy of Chelsea Handler to the most important evening in music and pop culture as she will be hosting the event. Keeping fans Twitter ready, late-show host and author, Handler will deliver her comedic edge, pop culture wit and hilarious social commentary to this year’s show.
“This has been a huge year for hip-hop and rap, and it is well-known that I have the closest ties with these communities – musically and sexually,” said Chelsea Handler. “I am to rap and hippity-hop, what Warren Buffet is to finance, minus the sex.”
Several big names such as: Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Drake, B.o.B and Florence + The Machine. Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj, Emma Stone, Penn Badgley, Trey Songz, Ashley Greene, Selena Gomez and Ne-Yo are confirmed to present at the awards show.
MTV News kicks off the biggest night in music with the first-ever televised solo performance from Young Money’s first lady, Nicki Minaj at the “2010 VMA Pre-Show” on Sunday, September 12 at 8pm (Live ET/Tape Delayed PT.) Nicki Minaj, one of hip-hop’s most innovative artists today known for her playful lyrics and fashion forward style, will set the carpet on fire with a live performance of her hit single “Your Love.” Beginning Tuesday, September 7th, MTV & Nicki Minaj will launch a Twitter contest in which ten lucky fans will win a front row spot to watch her performance. As far as performances go, the night is packed with an eclectic array of artists who are going to hit the stage. MTV confirms Eminem will perform LIVE at the “2010 MTV Video Music Awards.” Known for his fiery live performances and captivating lyrics, Eminem is sure to ignite a twitter storm at this year’s show. With a #1 album on the Billboard charts, his #1 single “Love The Way You Lie” and 8 VMA nominations, Eminem remains unstoppable as he joins an incredible line-up of performers. This news comes on the heels of the announcement that Kanye West, Drake and Florence + The Machine will perform at this year’s show.
The biggest night in music just got even hotter as MTV also confirms Usher to perform. Riding the wave of success surrounding his hit album, Raymond v. Raymond and the release of his follow up album this week, Versus, Grammy Award® winning artist Usher is sure to move the crowd and bare his soul on the stage at this year’s show. Adding to the already impressive lineup, Paramore, nominated this year for “Best Rock Video,” are also set to wow the VMA audience with a special performance. Additionally, Travie McCoy, Jason Derulo, and Robyn will perform never before heard mixes of their current hit singles with this year’s VMA house artist, deadmau5.
And, for the first time on television, Linkin Park will be performing their #1 single on the Billboard Alternative and Rock Songs Chart, “The Catalyst” for fans at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. This marks the first single off their highly anticipated new album, A Thousand Suns scheduled for release on Tuesday, September 14th.
