True Blood Steams Up Rolling Stone

Posted on August 19, 2010

HBO’s True Blood bares it all on this month’s cover of Rolling Stone.

Alexander Skarsgard, Anna Paquin, and Stephen Moyer shared the cover of Rolling Stone wearing nothing but fake blood.  They currently play the love triangle between Eric Northman, Sookie Stackhouse, and Bill Compton on True Blood, making them the appropriate (so to speak) representation of the show.

The creator, Alan Ball, has shared what he thought about vampires and their relationship to sex. “To me, vampires are sex. I don’t get a vampire story about abstinence. I’m 53. I don’t care about high school students. I find them irritating and uninformed.”

And as for the allure of vampires, Stephen Moyer explained why they have such a sex appeal.

“If we go from a base level, vampires create a hole in the neck where there wasn’t one before. It’s a de-virginization – breaking the hymen, creating blood and then drinking the virginal blood.

“And there’s something sharp, the fang, which is probing and penetrating and moving into it. So that’s pretty sexy. I think that makes vampires attractive. (laughs) Plus,Robert Pattinson is just hot, right?”

And, of course, among the rave reviews, there are those completely outraged at the nudity on the cover.  Please keep in mind that this is not the first time Rolling Stone has decided to display naked celebrities: Lady Gaga, John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Red Hot Chili Peppers…to name a few.
