Johnny Depp Returns to Music

Posted on June 21, 2010

Actor Johnny Depp is preparing to launch his new record label, Unison Records.

Depp recently helped British band Babybird produce their new record by funding their studio time and playing on some of their tracks. He currently has a team looking for London talent and while he may not get to as many shows as he would like, a source says “he’s taking a really hands on approach to signing acts.”

Before Depp began acting, debuting in 1984’s A Nightmare On Elm Street, he had dropped out of high school to become a musician. He was involved with many garage bands, including The Kids, later named Six Gun Method, who had garnered local success. Depp has also recorded twice with Oasis, most notably on guitar for “Fade In-Out,” and has a band of his own called P.

But even in his films, Depp wasn’t far from music. In the film or on the soundtrack, he can be heard in his films like Chocolat (2000), Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003), and Sweeney Todd (2007).

There’s just no stopping Johnny Depp.
