The headline sounds like something out of a B-movie from the early days of cinematography, but fortunately (if you’re a scientist) or unfortunately (if you’re a creationist/Bible-thumper), it’s VERY true: according to National Geographic, XNA — synthetic DNA — has been manufactured in a lab. The study, which was conducted in U.K.’s Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology, concluded that “beyond heredity, specific XNAs have the capacity for Darwinian evolution. Thus, heredity and evolution, two hallmarks of life, are not limited to DNA and RNA.” What does this mean? Well, to put it simply: this discovery could answer a LOT of questions about the origin of life…and they don’t…Read more

Despite the high-ratchet prevalence of such buffoonery as Maury Povich, MTV’s Teen Mom, & idiots such as the bevy of “video vixens” who think it’s the height of intelligence to have a baby at the ripe old age of 14 years old (arguing that said birth is proof positive of how much they’re “dimes”), CBS News is reporting that the rate of teen pregnancy in the USA is at an all-time low. This decrease goes across ethnicities, too: Hispanic teens — who, as a population, are still the most likely to get pregnant in their teen years (at a rate of about 55 out of every 100 teens) — reported…Read more

You wouldn’t think that a girl that looks like this would be involved in a UFC-style choke-out…but according to TMZ, Arianny Celeste — best known for being a UFC ring girl — was just arrested for choking out her boyfriend! In addition to her work with the UFC, Arianny has appeared in Playboy, Maxim, FHM, & every other “men’s magazine” in the publishing industry. Though details of the fight are sketchy, Arianny is currently being held of $3,000 bond. She has 48 hours to come up with the money — if she doesn’t, she will have to go before a judge to please her case. I will leave the forum…Read more

I recently had the privilege of being flown to Los Angeles, courtesy of Harley-Davidson & LaGRANT Communications. I had been to LA several times prior to this trip — the last time prior being seven (7) years ago — but I can honestly say that this was the first time that I really had a good time. We toured East LA’s murals, ate authentic Cali-Mex food (and had some Paqui tequila), and even saw a Dodgers game! (The Dodgers won.) Harley-Davidson is trying to reach the “new” face of America — the growing African-American & Hispanic markets. No longer the terrain of “white rocker guys & Hell’s Angels” the “new”…Read more

In The Land of Oz, The Spider Eats the Snake!

This is probably the scariest thing you will see all day. You have been forewarned. Cairns is a town in Australia that most people wouldn’t even think existed. Yet, after these photos — taken by native Ant Hadleigh — have surfaced on the web, it’s guaranteed that NO ONE will forget the name “Cairns” anytime soon. In normal circumstances, snakes can eat spiders without a problem. But what you’re seeing here is the so-called Golden Orb Spider (which, according to Wikipedia, comes from the color of the web they weave, not of their body color — and, if it makes you feel any better, its venom is “potent, but not…Read more

Urban Outfitters Sparks Controversy with Yet Another Racist Shirt

Following hot on the heels of their oh-so-appropriate “Obama shirt,” Urban Outfitters is sparking yet another round of controversy with yet another racist shirt. This time, Urban Outfitters has targeted hip-hop. Death & Taxes Magazine has reported that this latest affront to common decency was designed by the pseudo-talents at Local Celebrity for Urban Outfitters — the brand which epitomizes everything that is wrong with the hipster culture. There is, of course, ample “biting” of the culture that they clearly have no concept of (PHAT BEATZ N FRESH STEPPIN’, YO!), but they’re also all-too-happy to cap it off with a “black people like chicken” meme. (Specifically, “0% protein — get…Read more

LOL WHUT? News of the Day: Japanese Companies Sell Used Underwear

Wait, WHAT? Who? How come? There’s a MARKET for this? Weird Asia News is reporting that Japan’s Kanojo Toys (TOYS?!) is selling used panties by young Japanese women who have recently married! For reasons of decency, we can’t really elaborate why they would sell women’s used underwear. Let’s just say that some things are better left unsaid. But if you’re really curious, you can check out the link. Did you like this? Share it:Tweet

49 years ago yesterday, “General Hospital” debuted on ABC. Originally created by Frank and Doris Hursley, the show premiered as a half hour and aired in the 1PM EST time slot. The original cast featured John Beradino & Emily McLaughlin (who both stayed on the show until their deaths in the 1990′s), and Roy Thinnes, to name just a few rising (at the time) superstars! After 49 years, it’s credited by the Guiness Book of World Records as the longest-running television soap opera, currently in production, in American television history. From 1979 to 1988, General Hospital had more viewers than any daytime soap opera. It rose to the top of…Read more
