(PCM) We are deeply saddened to learn that legendary comedian Don Rickles has passed away at the age of 90. Rickles passed away in his Los Angeles area home as a result of kidney failure with this wife of 52 years, Barbara, by his side. Rickles would have turned 91 years old on May 8.
Rickles form of sarcastic and self-deprecating humor was an influence to many and he is often looked at as one of the most influential comedians in history. He is one of the most beloved “insult comics” and he received his first big break into superstardom when he appeared on “The Late Show with Johnny Carson” back in 1965. He illustrious career would go on to span over seven decades.

Over the course of his stand-up comedy career, Rickles performed many headlining stints in Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, and Reno. He was nicknamed the “The Merchant of Venom”, a title he earned and wore proudly and was also a frequent guest on Dean Martin’s “Celebrity Roast”. On of Rickle’s most memorable performances occurred when he roasted former President Ronald Reagan during the inaugural ball back in 1985.
In addition to stand-up comedy Rickles appeared in a variety of TV shows and films over the years. He had guest appearances in everything from “The Lucy Show” to more recently “Hot In Cleveland”. He is also remembered as the voice of Mr. Potato Head in the “Toy Story” film franchise and was set to reprise this voice acting role in “Toy Story 4” which is set for release in 2019. Rickles earned an Emmy award for his performance in the HBO special “Mr. Warmth: The Don Rickles Project” and penned a memoir titled “Rickles’ Book” which was published back in 20017.
